Physical Education at Lea Valley
At Lea Valley Primary school we are passionate about Physical Education and Sport and the positive effect it can have on whole school life. Our PE is filtered through all of school life and we aim to keep all children active throughout the day.
All children have a set PE lesson once a week which is taught by class teachers with input from our PE specialist Muriu. Within these lessons children will be taught using the structure of the National Curriculum and Val Sabin’s core curriculum progression. The children are taught a wide ranging selection of sports and are able to use a all of our fantastic equipment.
In addition to the PE timetable we try to incorporate physical exercise into other parts of school life with organised activities at lunch time, physical brain breaks and cross curricular learning.
We run a very varied after school timetable which ranges from archery to cheerleading and we endeavour to get all children to participate for at least 1 club per year. These classes are heavily subsidised by the school and staff often give up their time to take them.
We have lots of teams that represent the school in sports such as cricket, football and netball. We also run inter school competitions and have a thriving sports day.
Here are some activities that you can do at home:
