The School Council is made up of children from year 1 upwards. In September each class elects 2 children who they want to represent them for the year. The class can tell their school council members any ideas or concerns they have and the School Council take these thoughts to their regular meetings to try and make the school a better place.
They are role models for the rest of the school and their pictures are displayed in the school hall so that everyone knows who they are. They liaise between children and teachers to make ideas happen. They lead assemblies to keep the school informed about what they are working on. They work very hard and they have lots of enthusiasm and great ideas!
The school council have been very busy this year. They have been running a playground pals scheme where children are chosen to have a special role at playtimes. The playground pals are always ready to play with anyone who has no one to play with and they look after the other children.
The school council wanted to take this idea further so they have set up a buddy base. This is an area of the playground where the children can go to make friends. It has games, books and activities for children to do.
The year 5 and 6 school councillors took this idea to a training day where they were voted hardest working school council and won a prize for the best overall idea!
The school council are going to continue to work hard to make Lea Valley an even better place for everyone.
