2024.02.19 Lea Valley School

Dear Maria,

I hope that you, teachers, support staff and pupils have had a lovely half term break.

I write to thank you so much for my wonderful visit to Lea Valley Primary School. The visit was the highlight of my week!

It was lovely to see in action, the values of the school. I could clearly see the ambition and determination you have to support all children with a range of abilities and needs to achieve well.

The artwork that I saw, the children doing maths in Spanish, and generally all the children focused on their work was impressive. It a pleasure to see the children enjoying the school site with its rich vegetable garden and happy chickens! I also enjoyed seeing the children at playtime, in the mud kitchen making soup, doing backflips, rolling as a group of four along the ground, and generally enjoying themselves.

I was pleased to see the commitment, kindness and respect of the teachers and other staff towards the children. Kindness and respect are such important values and help create a rich environment for learning and a place that parents feel welcomed.

I particularly liked hearing about how reading actual books was central to learning in school. This was evident in classrooms and the lovely library. I am so pleased this, amongst all the other riches at Lea Valley, was noted in the recent Ofsted inspection report that was a pleasure to read. Well done.

Thank you for your leadership and all the amazing work that you do. Thank you too to all teachers, support staff, parents and Governors that support you with your work.

Best wishes

Ann Graham,
 Director of CYPS
