Curriculum Home

At Lea Valley all our children thrive on an ambitious, knowledge rich, curriculum with a focus on vocabulary and key skills.  It aims to broaden pupils’ cultural capital while reflecting their rich heritage.

By the time a child leaves us in year 6 they will

*Be a responsible, confident citizen who is excited by the world around them.

*Know all the requirements of the national curriculum and beyond as well as a wide range of life skills

*Experience a broad variety of enrichment opportunities across all aspects of the curriculum that bring learning to life and creates life-long memories for pupils

And implementation

In order to provide our pupils with the most effective provision, we have chosen to teach some subjects weekly and some subjects as a week block.

We are teaching PSHE, PE, Spanish and Music weekly because these lessons require a consistent approach and pupils need time between each session.

All other foundation subjects are taught in weekly blocks as are the core subjects.  This enables pupils to become immersed in a topic and consequently build a deeper knowledge of that subject.  This method works well for EAL and SEND pupils and makes the curriculum more inclusive.
